Tennessee politics behind the scenes
Athiest ministers are open and affirming of marriage equality. Based upon my religion and my first amendment rights you can no longer deny my right to marriage in Tennessee.
No one in the state has ever stopped a homosexual marriage. If you want to go have a ceremony in your church go for it. The state will not call in the swat team to stop you. What you want is state recognition. Our constitution forbids it.
Actually now you have to recognize it, again IT IS MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT which trumps your silly state constitution. Go back and read it again senator.
No. Sorry. Read the 10th amendment.
The states don't have to do anything" the federal government does.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. You have to respect powers delegated to the U.S. by the Constitution. If my religion can't run the country yours can't either. We will still get federal benefits either way now!
And that proves what? Nothing. Legal does not make right. Blacks were once legally called property and 3/5 of a person. Nuff said.
and then things legally changed.... see how that works? Maybe you should be a pastor not a senator if you cant do your job. LEGAL not BIBLICAL
and there is nothing wrong with marriage equality, i'm sorry that you believe you should get special priviledges because you sleep with someone of opposite genitalia but that wont fly in this country. 14th amendment-check it!
You clearly don't understand the 14th equal in similar circumstances in protection. You have no more right to marry two men then you do 3 or 4 or 5 at the same time. The definition is up to the states to decide and set the standard.
Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival.... To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discrimination. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State. It was used in Loving v Virginia. The same argument applies.
Sorry, wrong. The lovin decision was based on racial discrimination of the parties involved. Race is a protected class. Homosexuality is an activity that is controllable unlike race. An activity that is not a protected class. If we start saying all people are protected and have the right to marry then you have to stand with NAMBLA and those that want to marry their children or their brother or sister. Are you ready to go there?
Can you explain how homosexual marriage is essential to our survival?
what size do you wear? Oh so now we are talking survival. OK so infertile couples and elderly. TRY AGAIN!
When someone (not me) says homosexual marriage is essential to our existence and survival I think its reasonable to ask how that homosexual marriage is essential to our survival as a species.
Still never answered about your obsession with gay people, why this sin above all others?
I didn't. Of course no one is saying we need to have classes on educating little children on adultery either.
