College ID is not a good IDea.

There was a push to allow college IDs to be used as proof of identification for voting. I am not a  big fan of the idea.

Why? College IDs  are easy to fake.

It's not a crime to reproduce a college ID. You can buy them through the mail. I could probably make a pretty good copy of a college ID with a home scanner and a printer. On the other hand, It is a crime to buy or use a fake drivers license, carry permit, passport, etc. Not a lot of people have the ability to do a water mark, laser etching, embossing or other type of high end reproduction that those other forms of allowable proof have.

You don't have to be 18 years old, you don't have to be a US citizen, you don't even have to be in the country legally to get a college ID.

Most poll workers would not be able to tell a real college ID from a fake one as there are dozens of different colleges in Tennessee alone,  all with different ID badges. You can't use a college ID to buy alcohol, cigarettes, etc. why would you say it's OK to use one to go vote?

Well duh, isn't it obvious? I can use it to check out books at the college library.

We have legal precedent! Maybe Bob Cooper could write a letter...
